When it comes to life. We tend to stay on the same path even when we are not happy.

We are wired that way. Our monkey brain keeps us safe. It thinks if we stay the course we will be safe. This may have been true in the caveman days. There were a lot of dangers. Because of this fight or flight are the first responses out brain has. As we become conscious we can questions our brain’s response.

When is comes to finding a new career or making a change in your life, curiosity plays a huge part.

Instead of just acting with a caveman brain, we need to be curious.

When I had the thought: I don’t know what to do next. I stayed stuck. That is not a curious question. I may not have known what to do next but I needed to be more curious instead of resolved that I just didn’t know what to do.

I started to be curious about my life.

First, I started to explore what I did not like in my current job? I started by looking at each task I did,  then I determined what I liked and didn’t like about each one. I looked at how I felt about thinking and doing those tasks.  And I didn’t try to judge the answers I just wrote down the things I was thinking at the moment.

Then I looked at my responses from the first question and asked myself why I was thinking about a change. What did I want to change? The schedule? The work? The people? I really looked at every part of the job-the good, the bad, the ugly.

I think this is the trick. It is important to really evaluate the position you are in and figure out what you like and dislike.

It is about gathering information and seeing what is really true.

I left film production to start my own business. Most people are amazed that I left film production. They think that film is a really cool job. They are right, I thought so too when I started to do it. I am sure you loved your job when you first started. The coolness wears off and then we need to figure out why. Why do you not like it anymore?

It all starts with awareness. Awareness about how you are living now and how you want to live.

When I left film production, it was kind of scary but I wouldn’t change it for anything. Now I get up early, ready to start the day. I love helping my clients see all their possibilities

I made the right move. It all came down to being curious and asking why.

Start with being curious. Answer all the questions that come up.

Then give me a call when you are ready to have a guide help you through this discovery process.
