I work with people who are looking for a new career. They want one that aligns with their values and their ideal life. I find that most haven’t taken time to decide what that ideal life looks like.
Looking into the future is a good way to determine how you want your life to be. When we know where we want to go and who we want to be, we can get there. Having a plan is essential.
Writing your Eulogy is a great way to look at future you.
- What is your legacy?
- How do you want to be remembered?
- What does your life look like?
We each have all of the power in our lives. We get to decide who we are and how we live. If we are not living the life we want, we are the only ones to change it.
I have seen numerous deathbed regrets lists on the internet. These fascinate me. I do not want to die with a list of regrets.
Here are the top five regrets people have on their deathbed:
- I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.
- I wish I hadn’t worked so hard.
- I wish I had the courage to express my feelings.
- I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.
- I wish that I had let myself be happier.
All of these regrets could have been thwarted if each person had been aware of it earlier. They could have decided to live their lives differently.
You are the one who gets to decide how you want to live. Anything is possible.
I know change is hard. We have many obligations and excuses for staying stuck in one place. Money, insurance, the unknown…
